Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa to remain in custody over murder case

Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa and her aide Geoffrey otieno have been remanded at port police station until Thursday 22nd October 2020 when they are expected to plead to murder charges. This is to allow mental assessment and pre bail report to be carried out before plea taking.

This comes days after the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) approved murder and assault charges against the MP and her bodyguard over the killing of a man and injury of several other people in 2019.

Aisha and Geoffrey Otieno are being linked to the killing of 48-year-old Ngumbao Jola in Kilifi County on October, 15 last year after violence during a ward by-election in Ganda where Jola was shot dead.

 It is allegedly the legislator together with some of her supporters invaded Reuben Katana’s home to stop a gathering for the ODM candidate in a by-election.
