A middle aged woman has come out accusing Mr William Franklin, the factory manager, Mega Apparel EPZ Mombasa of sexual harassment and threats.
The complainant Ms Assumpta Mutuku who worked for the factory accuses Mr William of making sexually advances between 24th – 27th of July 2020 and threatening her of lossing her job if she doesn’t give in.
While talking to thecitizeneye.com , Assumpta said that William called her on 26th July demanding a sleep over and sex so as to protect her job. she declined but Mr William continued to threaten Assumpta of loosing her job.
After speaking to family and friends, Assumpta decided to report and share the behaviour of her boss. On 31/07/2020 Assumpta reported the matter to changamwe police station.
According to details, police begun investigation and on 7th August went to arrest Mr William but were informed he wasn’t around.
thecitizeneye later established that Mr William was hiding in the toilet to avoid arrest and was later frisked out of the factory by one senior manager and his driver while lying on the back seat of his car.
Later On Monday 10/8/2020 the Mega industries management led by the General Manager Mr Francis together with William went to changamwe police, where they threatened Assumpta to receive Ksh 100000 and withdraw the sexual harassment and threats case against william or face dire consequences.
On same day, she was instructed not to ever report to work again.
Efforts to reach Mr William and the factory’s top management bore no fruits after they failed to address our reporters through a phone call. Our texts are still unanswered.
